It is as low as it has ever been and 15 shares of fun money would not be a serious digression from my long term 403b/RIRA program. Marty With such a modest purchase (aren't we talking the equivalent of dinner for two?), unless you get free trades, the commissions in and out will eat you alive. That said, if you get free trades, that's why it's called 'fun money.' Marty I regard to everyone's negative spin on my question, I have decided not to invest the money in BoA and stay with VOO which probably has BoA in it anyway. I own a few stocks for fun and one of them was Bank of America, going back many years to the NationsBank era. The stock had a nice run and I sold off my original investment, then just watched the stock plummet from 50 to about 2.50 in 2009. I didn't sell then, but I didn't buy more then either. The stock rose back up, sort of, and I finally sold it at 11.59 in December 2010. (That was a stock-loss move, I bought the Vanguard Financial ETF on the same day) Would I buy it now? It pays a one cent dividend, so you can't see it as a dividend play.
